Taiwan President: “Peace Has No Price And War Has No Winner”

The president of the American Institute in Taiwan said Saturday that the partnership between Washington and Taipei is “rock solid” and Taiwanese leader Lai Ching-te stressed that they must fight together to avoid war.

“Peace is priceless and war has no winner. We must fight, fight together to avoid war,” said the Taiwanese president during a visit to the USS Arizona memorial in Hawaii, dedicated to the American sailors killed during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

At a dinner hosted by Lai Ching-te during his visit to Hawaii, the president of the American Institute in Taiwan, the de facto American embassy on the island, stressed that the partnership between Washington and Taipei is “rock solid.”

“This opportunity to meet with thought leaders, the diaspora, and local and national leaders is invaluable and I know it will help reinforce the rock-solid partnership between the United States and Taiwan,” Rose Rosenberger, president of the Washington-based American Institute in Taiwan, said in a pre-recorded video quoted by AFP.

The Taiwanese president began a tour of Pacific island countries that have diplomatic relations with Taipei, with the first stop being Hawaii.
