Russia decided to impose a fine on Google for not reinstating the accounts of Russian television channels on YouTube, with the amount of this fine being a true record.
The fine that Google was subject to is equivalent to 2.5 decillion dollars – a number followed by 33 zeros – a value that, as the website Gizmodo says, is the result of an accumulation that begins with Google’s decision to block Tsargrad TV and RIA FAN in 2020.
Given that the fine will only get bigger and bigger, it is highly unlikely that Google will pay this fine but, nevertheless, it is worth remembering that the consequences have been real for the company.
The company’s subsidiary filed for bankruptcy in 2022 after courts seized more than 90 million euros in assets in Russian bank accounts.
