José Mourinho didn’t take long to respond to the ‘provocation’ left by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City’s last press conference, in which the Spanish coach refused to be compared to the Portuguese coach as he won six championships and his former rival only won three.
“Guardiola spoke about me. He won six trophies and I won three, but all in a fair and clean way”, began by referring to Mourinho, quoted by Mail Sport.
The Brazilian coach went further and added: “When I lose, I congratulate my opponent because he was better than me. I don’t want to win with 150 cases.”
It is worth remembering that the origin of the controversy is the fact that Guardiola, after losing for the sixth time in seven games, made the number six with his hands, referring to the number of titles won by him. The same gesture had already been made by Mourinho in the past, which led journalists to compare the two coaches (something Guardiola didn’t like).
