At least three people died today after a fire broke out in a warehouse located in the economic-technological development zone of the city of Hohhot, in the Chinese region of Inner Mongolia, in the north of the Asian country.
The fire broke out at around 8:30 am (01:30 am Lisbon time) today, affecting a warehouse belonging to the Inner Mongolia Xinzhongtian New Material company, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
Firefighting and rescue efforts lasted several hours, and emergency teams confirmed that no more people were trapped at the scene.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated, according to the Hohhot Fire Rescue Detachment, which has mobilised experts to determine the origin of the fire.
This is the latest in a series of incidents at industrial sites in China, which has led to greater scrutiny of safety measures in the sector.
On 18 July, at least 16 people died following a fire in a warehouse in the city of Zigong, in central China.
