A police officer was “suspended from all his duties” after a video shared on social media revealed a passenger being kicked in the head and being beaten, on Tuesday, at Manchester airport, in the United Kingdom.
Greater Manchester Police said they understand the “deep concerns that have been widely expressed” following the viral video of the moment being shared on social media, reports Sky News.
“Following an exhaustive review of other available information relating to an incident that occurred at Manchester Airport on Tuesday evening, Greater Manchester Police has suspended a police officer from all duties. A complaint has now been made to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) for a full independent investigation”, can be read in a statement published on X (formerly Twitter).
The victim will have revealed that he will file a formal complaint for assault against the police officer.
The controversial video quickly went viral due to their violence. In the images, it is possible to see the agent, who holds a taser, striking the man, who is lying face down on the ground. At the same time, other police officers shout at people in the area, asking them to move away.
The BBC reports that, according to the police, the agents were attacked when they tried to detain someone following a fight in Terminal 2 at that airport.
