A 27-year-old man suspected of sharing child pornography content was arrested in flagrante delicto on Tuesday in Portimão, the Judicial Police (PJ) revealed today.
“The complaint originated from international judicial cooperation mechanisms, via the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which found that the suspect repeatedly accessed, held and shared child pornography content on computer media,” the PJ said in a statement.
The arrest was made under an international arrest warrant, a source from the police force responsible for the criminal investigation in Portugal told Lusa.
The suspect will be brought before a court for questioning, and the same source explained that, as this is an international arrest warrant, the suspect will have to wait in detention as a coercive measure until he is extradited.
