Judge Carli Kierny ruled Tuesday that Duane “Keefe D” Davis’s 2008 police interview and passages from his book Compton Street Legend can be used at trial. In the interview, Davis implicated his nephew Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson in the shooting from a white Cadillac near the Las Vegas Strip on September 7, 1996, as retaliation for an earlier fight. Davis, arrested in 2023 after his public admissions, faces life in prison; his trial starts August 10 and is set to last four weeks. He has pleaded not guilty, but the judge rejected defense claims of confidentiality due to his later disclosures.
