1.7 Million Dollars of Cocaine Found in the Atlantic Ocean and Police Made a Funny Appeal

A fisherman from Florida, in the United States, recently had a different day of fishing. The man found, in the Atlantic Ocean, 25 kilos of cocaine, worth more than 1.7 million dollars (more than 1.6 million euros), which he handed over to the police.

The information was released by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, which now wants to ‘return’ the lost drug to its rightful owner.

“If you have lost or misplaced approximately 25 kilos of cocaine and would like to have your property back, please contact our Narcotics Agents and we will be happy to reunite you with your lost property,” the Office began jokingly, in a post published on the social network Facebook on Monday.

The packages were marked “with a scorpion” and were found “along the beautiful coast and beaches of Brevard County.”

The missing items “were fortunately discovered by a fisherman who, in an effort to do the right thing” contacted the police. “So, wanting to refund it, we thought it was important to try and identify the rightful owner (…) I mean, it’s the least we can do, especially since it has a street value of around $1.7 million!!” highlights the same publication.

“So if the 25 kilos of cocaine belongs to you, all we need you to do is come to our Criminal Investigative Services building (…) and claim ownership of it with absolutely no strings attached!! That’s right… without obligation, as once we properly identify you as the rightful owner, we will be happy to return your property and also ensure that they are kept in a safe area,” the authority continues, in the amusing appeal.

“In fact, we are so excited to return something so valuable to its rightful owner that we are also offering an extended, all-expenses-paid ‘staycation’,” they concluded.
