Denmark to Send 750 Million Euros in Military Aid to Ukraine

Half of the amount is earmarked for air defense and the rest for the purchase of artillery, grenades and mines, Rasmussen said at the end of a meeting of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, where the government’s measure received the support of the majority of MPs.

“It’s quite a big package, we are currently the country that provides the largest military support to Ukraine in proportional terms,” said Rasmussen.

This is the 18th aid package approved by Denmark since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, and it imposes the condition that part of the support be spent on direct purchases from Ukrainian defense industries.

In March last year, the Danish parliament approved the Ukraine Fund, with an allocation of 64.8 billion Danish kroner (8.684 billion euros) to be used between 2023 and 2028.

Ukraine has relied on financial and arms aid from Western allies since Russia invaded the country on February 24, 2022.

Kyiv’s allies have also enacted sanctions against key sectors of the Russian economy to try to curb Moscow’s ability to finance the war effort in Ukraine.
