Woman Gets Paraplegic After Being Smashed by Piano in the USA

Danielle Drummond, a 28-year-old woman, recently moved from the city of Cleveland, in the US state of Ohio, to the town of Beaver, Oregon, to “change her life”, but ended up involved in a serious incident: she was left paraplegic after being crushed by a piano during changes.

According to the New York Post, the accident occurred last month, when the woman was moving the piano with the help of a friend, who lost control and dropped the instrument on top of her.

The victim was quickly transported to a hospital and underwent emergency surgery, where it was discovered that the piano “cut” her spinal cord and left her “paralyzed from the waist down.”

“I’m trying to stay in a good mood because I know this is my life now, but it’s hard,” said the woman, quoted by the New York Post. “From now on, I need a lot more physical therapy. I need to rebuild my strength.”

After the accident, Danielle, who lived in a van with her dog, had to undergo physiotherapy and needs a health aide. Now the woman, who has no family in Oregon to help her, is looking for a place to live to facilitate the rehabilitation process, since returning to Cleveland is also not possible.

“I don’t even know how to get home, let alone how to transfer all the medical stuff, and I don’t feel capable right now of taking such a long car or plane ride,” she explained.

Danielle’s older sister, Rosie Hayne, organized a fundraiser on the GoFundMe platform to help her find a place to live and pay for medical expenses.
