Asked about expectations for the Peace Conference being organized by Switzerland in June, Volodymyr Zelensky said that “it all depends on how resolute world leaders are” with the end of the Russian invasion.
“We want to know if they want a scenario of complete peace or if they are comfortable with this reality,” Zelensky added.
“We know that the United States of America [USA] supports the conference, but we don’t know at what level. With all due respect, to everyone in the USA, who watched us a lot, but now the situation is very simple: there is a peace summit organized around the world and I believe that President Biden has to be there”, added the Ukrainian head of state.
Volodymyr Zelensky advocated that other countries “evaluate the US reaction” and Biden’s “absence will be an applause” for the Russian head of state.
The Ukrainian President said he “does not want to make big statements”, but insisted that “it is difficult to prevail with just weapons”.
Armament, he continued, is essential for the country “not to be completely occupied”, but political support is the only thing that can demonstrate that there is a bloc that can stand up to Vladimir Putin’s intentions.
In Brussels, where he has already been on several occasions, Zelensky also left an appeal, this time extended to the European Union: “We wait for the decision in June to finally begin accession negotiations.”
“Arms in sufficient quantities and the power of justice are crucial for everyone to know that terror affects terrorists the most,” he advocated.
