The Ukrainian army indicated today that it has stopped the Russian “advance” in some areas of the Kharkiv region, in the north-east of the country, where Russia launched a surprise attack on Friday, occupying new territories.
“The situation in the Kharkiv area remains complicated and is developing dynamically. Our defence forces have managed to partially stabilize the situation,” said the spokesman for the Ukrainian forces in the region, Nazar Voloshin, describes the international agency AFP.
In a televised statement, Nazar Voloshin assured that the Russian advance had been “halted” in some areas.
“The enemy’s advance in some areas and localities has been halted, but [Russia] is still trying to create the conditions for further advances,” he said.
