Trump Accuses Democrats of “Coup D’état” Against Biden

The former President of the United States and Republican candidate in November’s presidential election, Donald Trump, today accused the Democratic Party of “a coup d’état” against the current leader of the White House, Joe Biden, who withdrew from the electoral race.

Trump spoke by telephone on Fox News’ morning program and described Biden’s speech on Wednesday night (early morning on Thursday in Lisbon) from the Oval Office of the White House as “terrible”, in which he gave more details about his decision to withdraw from the presidential race scheduled for November 5th.

“I think it was a coup d’état. They didn’t want him to run. He was very low in the polls and they thought he was going to lose”, commented the Republican politician.

The New York tycoon accused former US President Barack Obama, influential congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leaders of being behind a conspiracy to force Biden to withdraw after his disastrous role in the election debate with Trump last month past.

“They went to see him and told him that he couldn’t win the elections, which I think is true,” said the Republican.

Recently recovered from Covid-19, Biden gave a speech to the nation in which he explained that he decided to pass on the testimony to a new generation to unite the United States and save democracy, which he considers threatened by a possible new Trump term.

The Republican responded to Fox News that “everything was wrong” in Biden’s speech, from his appearance to his voice.

Trump also attacked the likely new Democratic candidate, the current US Vice President, Kamala Harris, who he said was “a not very intelligent radical leftist”.

The first polls and analyses, although still very preliminary, suggest that the Democratic Vice President would have a better electoral performance than Biden and could defeat Trump in some decisive states.

The Republican candidate launched a series of attacks at a rally on Wednesday against Harris, whom he called the “new victim of defeat” and accused of misleading the electorate about Biden’s ability to run for a second term.

The rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, marked his first public campaign event since Biden dropped out of the presidential race and Harris became the Democrats’ presumptive nominee.

“So we now have a new victim to defeat: the lying Kamala Harris,” Trump said, labeling her “the most incompetent, far-left Vice President in American history.”

Trump called her a “radical left lunatic” and said she was “crazy” for her positions on abortion and immigration.

Joe Biden, 81, announced on Sunday that he was withdrawing from his re-election campaign and supporting Kamala Harris as a possible successor after weeks of internal pressure to withdraw from the race due to doubts about his health.

To be a candidate against Trump in November, the 59-year-old American vice-president, who has received support from influential party figures and large amounts of campaign financing, must be confirmed by delegates at the Democratic National Convention, which will take place in Chicago from August 19th to 22nd.
