Three-Year-Old Child Hit By Tram In Hong Kong

A three-year-old girl died today in Hong Kong after being hit by a tram and becoming trapped underneath the passenger car, the local press reported.

The grandfather and a six-year-old child were also involved in the accident outside the Kennedy Town swimming pool in western Hong Kong, wrote the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

The grandfather was also trapped under the tram, the SCMP said.

‘The man suffered serious head injuries but remained conscious, and the older girl was bleeding from the head,’ said a police source, quoted by the daily newspaper.

A source told the SCMP that the two girls, their grandfather and the domestic worker were trying to cross the road when the accident happened.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at around 10.44am and the three were transported to Queen Mary Hospital, where the 03-year-old girl was pronounced dead.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the authorities, the daily added.

Meanwhile, the tram service between the Kennedy Town terminus and Hill Road is temporarily suspended.
