The information was confirmed this Wednesday in a statement from the family and also by the Los Angeles Police Department, which reported that Hannah had been located.
“We are incredibly relieved and grateful that Hannah was found safe. This past month has been an unimaginable ordeal for our family, and we kindly ask for privacy as we take the time to heal and process everything we have been through,” the statement read. of the family, signed by Brandi Yee and Sydni Kobayashi.
“We want to express our sincere thanks to everyone who has supported us during this difficult time. Your kindness and concern have meant the world to us,” they add.
Los Angeles police said they were “happy to hear” that the woman had been found and said the case was now “a private matter.” “We will conclude our investigation”, they indicated.
Hannah Kobayashi, 30, flew from Hawaii to Los Angeles early last month. He intended to catch another flight to New York on November 8, but missed his connection. Police later revealed a video showing the young photographer entering Mexico, southeast of Los Angeles, on November 12. The family had reported her missing the day before.
Her father, Ryan, flew to Los Angeles to try to find her, searching for her with other family members and volunteers, but was eventually found dead in a parking lot near the airport after taking his own life.
In early December, police issued a statement stating that the woman had voluntarily disappeared. At the time, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell said there was no evidence of human trafficking and that there was evidence she was seeking a different lifestyle. The photographer wanted to “move away from modern connectivity.”
