One of the best-known analysts among Apple fans, Ming-Chi Kuo, said via the social network X that the company has decided to switch from Sony to Samsung as a supplier of sensors for its iPhones’ cameras.
Although the contract between Apple and Samsung has already been signed, Kuo says that Samsung will have established a team dedicated to developing sensors that meet what the ‘Apple Company’ is looking for for the next generations of its mobile phones. .
In this case, everything indicates that Samsung will provide Apple with 48MP ultra-wide-angle sensors with 1/2.6″, which will be integrated into the cameras of the iPhone 18 series scheduled for 2026.
It is worth remembering that, in recent years, Sony has been Apple’s only supplier when it comes to sensors for iPhone cameras. With Samsung’s entry onto the scene, it is clear that Apple intends to diversify component suppliers for its cell phones.
