This is a 23-year-old young man who is currently undergoing treatment at the Quelimane Central Hospital. He saw part of his lower lip removed with his stepfather’s teeth on May 1st.
It seemed that the environment was suitable for parties, and then the young man, as he explained, saw his mother arrive at his house with tears.
Finding out about the situation, the mother explained that she had been beaten by her stepfather. The victim picked up his mother and went home to where he was. It was then that, in an attempt to find out, the stepfather began violence. “We started fighting, my stepfather bit my lower lips and removed them,” he explained.
The victim’s stepfather is on the run. The mother, who has bruises on her eyes due to her husband’s violence, asks for justice to be done.
At the hospital level, the surgeon says that the young man contracted a delicate wound and that it needs treatment for it to progress well, as it was a human bite.
Eugénia Cavele explains that the wound arrived at the hospital already contaminated, due to bacteria that normally live in the oral cavity. However, says the doctor, she is being monitored at the hospital so that the situation does not worsen.
“If the patient progresses as the doctors intend, he may benefit from plastic surgery on the now removed lip, this will allow the return of facial aesthetics”, said the doctor who is also a spokesperson for the hospital.
