The Spanish National Police dismantled a criminal organization dedicated to human trafficking, which “fraudulently regularized” the situation of people of “Chinese nationality” in Spain.
In a statement, the authority reveals that 14 people were arrested, in Cádiz and Madrid, Spain, who “allegedly were part of a network that illegally trafficked more than 250 migrants”.
The victims were hidden in “tiny spaces, like dungeons, isolated for several weeks in poor sanitary conditions”, prohibiting them from leaving these spaces.
It is estimated that “the benefits obtained from the different aspects” of this criminal activity, including “illegal trafficking of migrants, false documents and drugs”, amount to one million euros.
“The criminal network, of an international nature, specialized in different types of crime. It facilitated the illegal entry into Spain of people of Chinese nationality, both by air and by land”, explains the National Police.
In the same informative note, it is clarified that the criminals, all of whom are also Chinese nationals, “had ample infrastructure to house migrants and facilitate their illegal stay in Spain”.
The suspects “forged documents, mainly passports, visas and stamps from Schengen countries and third countries.” They were also dedicated to “trafficking original documents for use by migrants who had similarities in physical appearance”.
“Members of the organization had contacts with document forgers in Turkey. They used these false documents so that migrants could fraudulently enter Spain and remain in our country awaiting their subsequent clandestine transit to the United Kingdom”, the statement also reads .
