The Spanish Public Prosecutor’s Office has asked for a 47-year prison sentence for a basketball coach from Felanitx, Mallorca, on suspicion of sexually abusing minors, according to the Europa Press news agency.
The man in question is 28 years old, and is accused of having committed four offenses of sexual abuse with prevalence, and two others of sexual assault, one of which was attempted. These crimes were committed over many years, until he was arrested in 2021.
Since then, the coach (whose identity remains secret) has been banned from coming within 1,000 meters of the alleged victims. The youngest, we read, was nine years old at the time of the incident.
In one case, the suspect even took advantage of the death of the father of one of the complainants to get close to him, to the point of visiting his house “practically” every day, with the family’s knowledge and consent.
