Putin Turns 72 This Monday And It’s Already Known How He’ll Celebrate

This Monday, October 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin celebrates his 72nd birthday and, as in previous years, he will spend his birthday at work.

It should be noted that this will be the 21st time that Putin has celebrated the date as head of state.

According to Russian state news agency TASS, Putin will start the morning receiving congratulations from foreign leaders, while he also has several working meetings planned.

In the evening, Putin will meet with the heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States, who are in Moscow for a summit on Tuesday.

Putin doesn’t have working hours, as the Kremlin has already stressed, pointing out that the Russian leader is “practically on duty 24 hours a day”.

The Russian president, meanwhile, prefers to deflect attention when asked about the date. “It’s my birthday, not a national holiday. It seems immodest to me to exaggerate the importance of this event,” he said, as quoted by TASS.

Even so, Putin doesn’t shy away from gifts. In 2022, for example, when he celebrated his 70th birthday, he received a tractor from his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko. In 2017, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the former president of Turkmenistan, gave him a dog of the Central Asian shepherd breed.
