BMW presented the new 1 Series last June. Due to arrive in Portugal in October this year, the model has already started production at the German brand’s factory in Leipzig, Germany.
With the internal code F70, the German brand’s new 1 Series is available in four versions: 118d, 120d, 120 and M135 xDrive.
In terms of engines, all available versions feature BMW’s new blocks and all are combined with 48-volt mild hybrid technology. The BMW 120 with a three-cylinder gasoline engine delivers 170 hp, while the 120d diesel block, with four cylinders, offers 163 hp. The 118d, also with a four-cylinder engine, delivers 150 hp. A 116 and 123 xDrive will be launched at the end of 2024.
Finally, the M135 xDrive is the sportiest version of the 1 Series, powered by a 2.0-liter turbo engine capable of delivering 300 hp and 400 Nm of torque. This model reaches 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h. The delivery of power is accompanied by the distinctive sound of the M exhaust system.
According to BMW, around 443,000 units of the third generation 1 Series had been sold by June this year.
