A mother and daughter, aged 48 and 26 respectively, graduated from the same course on the same day in Santana do Ipanema, in the interior of the state of Alagoas, Brazil.
Vanderlucia Lima and Wythoria Christiny graduated from the pedagogy course at the State University of Alagoas on Monday 19 August and realized a dream together.
The path to completing the course was arduous: they suffered from a lack of teachers, the Covid-19 pandemic and other obstacles.
‘We studied together and supported each other,’ said the mother, Vanderlucia, in a statement to G1.
For her daughter, the moment was ‘a privilege’. ‘We were always in the same working groups. We did the activities, the reading and the work together,’ said Wythoria, revealing that she wanted to be a teacher because she saw her mum teaching.
Her wife was already a teacher, but she lacked a higher education qualification in order to progress in her career.
After sharing university life, mother and daughter are now preparing to share new experiences in other classrooms as teachers.
