An 80-year-old man is in a brain-dead state after being hit by a burst of water from a seaplane that was working to fight a fire in the municipality of Alía, Cáceres, Spain, last Saturday.
According to the Spanish press, after the incident, the elderly man was airlifted to Cáceres Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
The mayor of Cáceres, Cristina Ramírez, told the regional newspaper HOY that the man ‘had approached to help because he had property nearby’ and, at that moment, the discharge ‘fell with such force that it knocked him down’.
Smoke prevented the victim from being seen by the operatives.
