A man burned to death after a lithium battery he was carrying exploded in an elevator. The case happened in China, last Wednesday (24). A security camera recorded the accident.
Through the images it is possible to see the moment when the victim enters the platform with a battery used in electric bicycles.
Shortly after the door closes, the battery starts to emit black smoke and explodes. The man, who has not yet been identified, tries to walk away, but is soon hit by the explosion.
Residents waiting for the elevator on another floor heard the explosion and came across the victim lying down as the door opened. Then, building employees and some rescuers dragged the man and placed him on a stretcher. Although help was quick, the man died.
The case is being investigated by Chinese authorities. To date, the cause of the explosion is still unknown.
