Man Accused of Stabbing Around 60 Women Executed in Iran

Authorities in Iran executed a man convicted of attacking around 60 women with an ice pick on the streets of the country’s capital, Tehran, on Monday.

The man, identified as Rastgui Kandlaj, was sentenced to death for injuring 59 women and girls “with the intention of creating terror” in the city, according to the Iranian news agency Mehr.

The accused would approach the women and girls on his motorbike and stab them with an ice pick, wearing a helmet and a scarf to make it difficult to identify them.

The execution was carried out after the Supreme Court rejected an appeal by Kandlaj, who was also ordered to pay “blood money” in compensation for his attacks on women in the Iranian capital.
