He is one of the NBA’s biggest stars and has everything in his favor to sign what will be the most lucrative contract in the history of basketball’s most famous league. Luka Doncic, point guard for the Dallas Mavericks, is already eligible to sign a contract that will allow him to earn something like 318 million euros over five seasons. Something that will happen from 2026/27. Something that is now possible after being (once again) elected to the first all-NBA team. This is the Slovenian’s fifth election in six years in the NBA.
Currently, the 25-year-old basketball player has a five-season contract ending in 2026/27, which will increase his bank balance by almost 200 million euros. At the end of the contract, Luka Doncic will have what is known as a player option. This means that he can decide to stay in Texas or become a free agent and decide his future without any problems. Still, he can choose to sign the most lucrative contract in NBA history. Even if he doesn’t make the All NBA Team in 2024/25.
Luka Doncic could earn 71 million euros in one season
If he goes ahead with the contract, he is projected to earn 54 million euros in 2026/27. This figure rises to 58, 63 and 68 million euros in the following seasons. In the final year of his contract, 2030/31, his salary will be 71 million euros. Currently, the highest paid player in NBA history is Anthony David, of the LA Lakers. He has an annual salary of 57 million euros from a four-season contract signed last season.
