A defector accuses Kim Jong-un of choosing 25 virgins every year for a pleasure squad whose sole mission is to please the North Korean leader.
Kim Jong-un has already faced the most diverse accusations. This time, North Korea’s leader has been accused by a defector of choosing 25 virgins every year to be part of what is known as a pleasure squad. Yeonmi Park, 30, told the Daily Star that Kim Jong-un chooses women on the basis of beauty and political loyalty.
The woman says that she was chosen twice to be part of the pleasure squad. But she was never part of the final selection because of her family status. “They visit all the classrooms and even go to the schoolyards in case they miss someone pretty. When they find some pretty girls, the first thing they do is check their family status, their political status. They eliminate all the girls with relatives who have escaped from North Korea or who have relatives in South Korea or other countries,” she explains.
“The only reason the girls exist is to please the dictator”
After this analysis, there follows a clinical examination which will certify that the chosen girls are virgins. Then there is another, more detailed medical test. For example, a small scar on the body is enough to put the candidates aside. All of this means that there are very few women who can be chosen. According to Yeonmi Park, those who pass all the filters have a mission: “The only reason the girls exist is to please the dictator.” Kim Jong-II, the previous leader, believed that “sexual intimacy with teenage girls would give him immortality”. He died in 2011 at the age of 70 following a massive heart attack.
Three groups of women
According to the defector, Kim Jong-un prefers women who are slimmer, taller and of Western appearance. “There are rumors that his wife was originally in the pleasure squad,” says Park. Within the squad there are three groups of women: one dedicated to massages, another to singing and dancing and the third to sexual activities. These outbursts have earned Yeonmi Park some criticism, as they are seen as very exaggerated.
