This Tuesday, Harry Kane gave an extensive interview to the Brazilian television channel TNT Sports, in which he discussed several topics, including the fact that there are fewer and fewer strikers like himself in world football.
“The game is changing a bit. The way of training nowadays means that a lot of players grow up wanting to be wingers. I think [Lionel] Messi and Cristiano [Ronaldo] dominated for a long, long time, playing on the wings,” he began by assert the English international.
“I think a lot of players wanted to see them. When I was growing up, I could see some of the best strikers in the world, so I wanted to be a number 9. It’s simply the way football works,” he continued.
“I think, tactically, some coaches play with a false 9, with a 9 and a half or a 10. It’s a shame because, in the end, scoring goals is the hardest part in football, so I would like to see more 9s. emerging. Over the years, they will come and go,” he added.
