A baby died on Thursday night off the French coast when a boat packed with people trying to reach England illegally sank, French authorities said today.
During an operation to recover migrants who had fallen overboard off Wissant, in the Pas-de-Calais department, “sixty-five people were recovered without injury”.
“After a search, a baby was found unconscious in the water and declared dead,” added the maritime authorities in the Channel and North Sea region.
