The former Apple designer responsible for creating some of the brand’s most iconic products, Jony Ive, revealed this during an interview with the Life in Seven Songs podcast.
You’d expect a product as popular as the iPhone to have a special place in Ive’s career but, in fact, the designer’s preference goes to the Apple Watch.
“I’m proud of what we’ve done with the watch because it’s something I started after Steve [Jobs] died,” said Ive, noting that the Apple Watch is “one of the most personal products” in his Apple career.
Ive also explained that Apple’s products have had their own journey, from the desk, through the bag and pockets to being available on users’ wrists. The designer explained that people “have a different kind of relationship” with the things they use and that “they are more intimate”.
“Besides, I’ve always liked watches. I think it’s interesting,” said Ive.
