Father Meets Daughter Moments Before Life Support Machine Is Turned Off

A touching photo has gone viral on social media showing the first and last meeting between a father and his newborn daughter.

George Fenlon, 23, died three months after being attacked by a man in the pub where he worked as a barman in Blackpool, England. The reasons for the attack have not been clarified, but George was seriously injured in the head.

His wife, Beth Turner, 23 – who was around seven months pregnant at the time of the crime – gave birth to their daughter, Clara Georgia, two weeks before he died.

After the attack, George remained in the ICU of the Royal Preston Hotel, where he was connected to a life support machine.

Although he never regained consciousness, the young man managed to find his daughter in hospital and George’s mother, Melissa, captured the touching moment.

“Looking back now, I’m not sure how we all got through it, the range of emotions we had to go through was horrible,” she said in an interview with the local press.

With his health irreversible, the devices that were keeping George Fenlon alive were switched off after this moment.

In the police investigation, an autopsy reveals that the cause of death was due to complications from traumatic brain injury. The perpetrator, identified as Rhys Jones, 26, has been arrested and is due to stand trial in June this year.
