Disney Explains What Led to the Cancellation of ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’

Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman spoke to Vulture magazine about the reasons that led to the decision to cancel ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’, a series that premiered during the summer and will not go beyond the first season.

“As far as ‘The Acolyte’ is concerned, we are pleased with our performance but, to be honest, it did not reach where we needed to in order to support the cost structure of this title and make a second season. That’s why we didn’t do it,” Bergman explained.

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ had eight episodes and, despite being praised by some fans of the ‘franchise’, it was considered too polarized when it came to specialized critics.
