Children Die After Being Swept Away By Stream In The USA

Two children, aged 2 and 4, died on Tuesday after being swept away by the current of a creek in the San Bernardino Mountains in southern California.

The incident occurred when the mother took her 4-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son to the Thurman Flat recreation area near Mill Creek, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, quoted by the Associated Press.

The brothers were playing by the creek. While paying attention to her son, the girl was swept away by the current, according to authorities.

“The mother looked for her, but could not locate her. When she returned, her son was missing and it was presumed that he had also gone downstream,” they said.

After searching for her children, the woman went to the picnic area and asked another family for help, but was unsuccessful.

Rescue teams arrived at the scene at 16:00 (local time) and found the two children, who were transported to local hospitals and pronounced dead, despite their best efforts.
