Alleged Woman Who Inspired The Series “Baby Reindeer” Blasts The Series And Criticizes The Creator In Exclusive Account

The series “Baby Reindeer” has been hitting Netflix screens in more than 30 countries, winning over a legion of fans and becoming an unexpected phenomenon. However, the success of the plot starring Richard Gadd has brought to light a controversy involving the identity of the inspiration behind one of the central characters, Martha.

In the story, the protagonist Donny, played by Gadd, is stalked by a stalker called Martha. The narrative, according to Gadd himself, is based on personal experiences in which he was the victim of stalking by an unidentified woman.

Recently, a group of fans committed to uncovering the truth behind the plot claimed to have found the “real-life Martha”. However, the woman, whose name remains confidential, vehemently denied the accusations and criticized both the series and its creator.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, the woman described the series as a form of “bullying for fame and fortune”, accusing Gadd of using “Baby Reindeer” to continue stalking her. She denied being the stalker mentioned by Gadd and expressed her indignation at the representation of her supposed persona in the series.

“I never had a toy baby reindeer and I didn’t talk to Richard Gadd about a childhood toy either,” she said, refuting one of the dialogues between the characters Donny and Martha. In addition, she rejected the physical characterization of the character in the series, stating: “She kind of looks like me after I put on a lot of weight during the pandemic, but I’m actually not really ugly.”

The revelations about the extent of the stalking experienced by Gadd add a layer of complexity to this controversy. According to the “Baby Reindeer” creator, he received a massive amount of communication from the stalker, totaling 41,071 emails, 744 tweets, letters totaling 106 pages and 350 hours of voicemails.

The series, consisting of seven episodes, remains available for streaming on Netflix, while the controversy surrounding its real-life inspiration continues to generate debate and reflection on the boundaries between fiction and reality, as well as ethical issues related to the representation of individuals in works of entertainment.
