An aerial image of the bridge that collapsed on Sunday between the states of Maranhão and Tocatins in Brazil, released by the Brazilian website G1, shows a car stuck in one of the cracks, at risk of falling.
The death toll from the tragedy remains unchanged, with two fatalities recorded, but according to the Brazilian Federal Highway Police, the number of missing people has risen to 12.
At the time the bridge collapsed, three motorcycles, a car and three trucks were passing by.
The fatalities are Alana, 25, and Marçon Gley Ferreira, 42. They were both riding motorcycles.
This Monday morning, firefighters are evaluating the best way to resume the search for the missing people, since they cannot enter the water after one of the trucks that collapsed spilled sulfuric acid.
The bridge that collapsed is called Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira and was built in the 1960s. It is approximately 533 meters long and connects the cities of Estreto, in Maranhão, and Aguiarnópolis, in Tocantins.
