The regional government of the Valencian Community does not provide concrete figures, but President Carlos Mazón reveals that the “multiple victims” protocol was activated following the tragedy.

Local authorities indicated, on Tuesday night, that several dead were found in flooded areas.

Several people in the neighboring country have shared images on social media of the damage and chaos caused by this storm, where it is possible to see cars being dragged, various objects being washed away and even shopping malls being flooded.

Following the weather conditions, a high-speed train with around 300 people on board derailed near Málaga, but authorities said no one was injured. High-speed rail service between Valencia and Madrid has been suspended.

The constraints were still felt at Valencia airport, with 12 flights being diverted and ten canceled. Several highways were closed.

On Tuesday night, the rain in the Valencia region was the heaviest in 24 hours since September 11, 1966, according to official data.

The Spanish government also created a crisis commission to monitor the effects of the storm on the Mediterranean coast, while King Felipe VI said he was following the devastating consequences of the floods “with great concern.”
