A 26-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with the alleged murder of her four-month-old son, after an autopsy revealed that the baby had suffered serious injuries, in the US state of Alabama.
The alarm was raised at 1.55pm on January 25, when the boy suffered a seizure at a home in Lanett, according to the Alabama Police Department.
The boy was transported to a hospital, but eventually died on January 29.
This Wednesday, authorities reported that the child’s mother, Jamesia Brichae Pruit, was arrested on suspicion of murder.
The police did not reveal the extent of the injuries suffered by the baby, but assured that the case remains under investigation. They also asked anyone with information to contact them.
