A19-year-old teenager who was wanted in connection with a robbery and murder committed in 2022 in Woodbridge, in the US state of Virginia, was arrested on Sunday as he was about to board a flight to El Salvador at Washington Dulles International Airport.
Christofer Antonio Argueta Ramirez, 19, was detained at the gate after customs authorities realized that he had purchased a one-way ticket to El Salvador, WTOP-FM radio reports.
The teenager, who was 17 at the time of the crime, was arrested shortly afterwards but released. The charges were later reinstated, said Lt. Jonathan Perok of the Prince William County police.
Ramirez was one of two suspects in the murder of Jose Abelino Guerrerro, who was 20 when he disappeared on December 21, 2022. Two days after he was reported missing, his family found his car with traces of blood on it.
The young man and the suspects had agreed to carry out a drug deal, but there was an altercation and Guerrero “was stabbed several times”.
The suspects transported the victim to Prince George’s County, Maryland, and disposed of his body. The young man’s remains were found in January 2023.
The investigation continues.
