An unusual case caught the attention of internet users last week. In the United States, a man needed emergency care after being admitted to the emergency room with a carrot about 20 centimeters long lodged in his rectum.
Despite his discomfort, the patient was unable to explain how the vegetable got there. In accordance with the medical code of ethics, his identity has not been revealed.
The episode came to light after an anesthesiologist shared the situation on social media. “Surgical procedure completed. We saved a carrot! Stop putting foreign objects in the anus,” wrote Peter E.
Similar cases are more common than you might think. Recently, in João Pessoa, a 60-year-old man needed medical attention after inserting an object almost a meter long into his anus.
