Generally, constipation results from a lack of dietary fiber, fluids or exercise. It can also be associated with certain medications or other conditions. Making simple changes and including certain foods in your diet can solve the problem. Want help? Joseph Salhab, a gastroenterologist, quoted in BestLife, has listed five examples of fruits you should try. 

Fruits that can help you do ‘number two’ when you’re constipated: 

Kiwi. “You can eat them with the skin on to ingest around 50% more fiber” and, in addition, “kiwi has been shown to be comparable to prunes in the treatment of constipation”; 

Yellow pitaya. “It’s a natural prebiotic, so it helps the good bacteria in the gut to develop and thrive.” 

Red berries. They have a high amount of “fiber and water to help soften stools”. They contain many antioxidants that are “important for gut and liver health”; 

Apples “The pectin content of apples has been shown to relieve constipation by increasing the speed of the colon”; 

Pears. “They contain sorbitol, a natural sugar alcohol and a natural laxative.”
