Congressional Staffer Struck by Lightning Walks to Dentist Appointment

On August 27, 24-year-old Thomas Fahmy, a staffer in Rep. Nicole Malliotakis’s Staten Island office, was struck by lightning on Todt Hill Road while heading to a dentist visit. Doorbell footage captured the bright flash, his fall, and quick recovery as neighbor Stephanie Homan called 911. Hospitalized overnight at Northwell Staten Island University Hospital, he was released the next day with no major injuries and later thanked God at church. Rep. Malliotakis expressed relief at his survival, while the video highlighted lightning’s sudden danger.
