Florida Jury Convicts Man in Ambush Murder of Microsoft Executive

A Duval County jury convicted Mario Fernandez-Saldana of first-degree murder and solicitation to commit a capital felony after less than four hours of deliberations in the 2022 killing of 33-year-old Microsoft executive Jared Bridegan. Prosecutors tied the ambush to a bitter custody dispute with Bridegan’s ex-wife Shanna Gardner, alleging Fernandez-Saldana, her husband at the time, helped recruit shooter Henry Tenon. Kirsten Bridegan, Jared’s widow, attended the verdict and said ‘Truth won today,’ while expressing the family’s lasting pain; Fernandez-Saldana faces a mandatory life sentence on Oct. 5, with Gardner’s trial starting soon.
