The company responsible for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, Meta, has decided that it will close down its communication platform for professional environments – called Workplace.
Workplace was supposed to serve as a major rival to platforms such as Slack or Microsoft Teams but, after being launched in 2016, it failed to gain enough users to justify it – especially after the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, when several companies decided to end remote working schemes.
It is known that from September 1, 2025, Workplace will only be readable and that users will not be able to interact on the platform. Access will be closed and the data deleted on June 1, 2026.
