Former judge on the culinary reality show ‘MasterChef‘, Zahie Téllez went through a major ordeal last Saturday (23). The famous chef from the Mexican edition of the reality show was approached and kidnapped by a group of criminals in the Morelos region while participating in a live interview for a local TV channel.
At the time, Zahie and her husband, Alberto Escobar, were inside a car during the chef’s conversation with journalists via video call. However, in the middle of the chat, armed men surrounded the vehicle and took the couple.
According to information from the Morelos Department of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the victims were rescued on Sunday, the 24th, and are doing well. In addition, one of those involved in the kidnapping of Zahie and her husband was identified and is in prison. “One person was detained and we were able to rescue the two people deprived of their liberty alive and unharmed,” stated Miguel Ángel Urrutia, the officer responsible for the case.
According to CNN Mexico, the couple was located in the northern part of the city of Cuernavaca, capital of Morelos. So far, the former judge of ‘MasterChef Mexico’ has not commented on the incident.
