Officially presented as Erik ten Hag’s successor as coach of the Manchester United first team, Ruben Amorim wasted no time in identifying what he considers to be one of the squad’s main shortcomings.
According to information released this Tuesday by journalist Florian Plettenberg, from the German broadcaster Sky Sport, the former Sporting coach would have let the Red Devils’ management know that he intends to see the left side of the defense properly reinforced, if possible, already in the next January.
At the moment, adds the same publication, the name that pleases the most is that of Alphonso Davies, a player who ends his contract with Bayern Munich at the end of this season, and who has also been followed by clubs such as Real Madrid or Barcelona.
The alternative goes by the name of Theo Hernández, whose contract with Milan runs until June 2026, but which fellow Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca intends to ‘hold’, at all costs.
