On the morning of Saturday, May 4, Felipe VI and Letizia of Spain reunited with their eldest daughter, Princess Leonor, in a solemn ceremony.
The Princess of Asturias didn’t miss the event to commemorate the 40th anniversary of her father’s oath of office.
At the event, which took place at the Zaragoza Military Academy (also attended by Leonor of Spain), the monarch appeared in military uniform, wearing the distinctions of lieutenant colonel on his chest.
Felipe VI, recalls Hola! magazine, took the oath on October 11, 1985, when he was 17 years old. This took place in the Patio de las Armas, where Leonor is being trained along with the other cadets.
As happened 40 years ago, the King was the first to take the oath, followed by the rest of his companions. One of the most moving moments, the publication points out, was when the relatives of the deceased soldiers arrived and took the oath in their honor.
Queen Letizia presided over the ceremony in the Royal Tribune.
