The Spanish Guardia Civil seized 55 bales of burlap, containing 1,580 kilos of cocaine, in the municipality of SanlĂșcar de Guadiana, in Andalusia, just outside Alcoutim, in the district of Faro.
In a statement, the force explains that âthe intervention took place when a person phoned the Guardia Civilâ to warn âof the presence of several people and vehicles that could be trafficking drugsâ.
For this reason, âseveral Guardia Civil patrols were sent to the scene, at which point the vehicles began to fleeâ.
The vehicles were intercepted, but the occupants managed to escape.
When the officers inspected the inside of the vehicles, they âfound 55 bales of burlap containing cocaine inside one of themâ.
At stake was a âtotal of 1,580 kg of cocaineâ.
