Guillermo Ochoa has announced his 𝑹𝑬𝑻𝑰𝑹𝑬𝑴𝑬𝑵𝑻 from football at the end of the World Cup .
From 2006 to 2026. Six World Cups, 40 years old, and still here. A career built entirely around one compass: the Mexico national team.
“The Mexico national team has always been my compass, my direction in my career, in my life. 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦.”
“Now my time with the national team is coming to an end, I don’t see much more meaning in football. I don’t see the point in keeping on playing. So… I’ve enjoyed every moment here. 𝐈 𝐠𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐚𝐥𝐥.”
Once this World Cup is over, Ochoa will retire. On home soil. In front of his people. The way it was always meant to end 🏟️🙏🏻
